Impact From Home #22 | Clean Water & Sanitation: Less than 10 years to go

Our next ‘Impact From Home’ features Vincent Cornelissen, Secretary International Division of NWP and Project Manager of YEP Water.

Vincent will share his unique insights into the current state of SDG 6: ‘Clean water and sanitation for all’. With less than 10 years until 2030, where do we stand and where are heading?

The Netherlands is known for its leading water-related expertise. Yet as the world is rocked by COVID-19 and an escalating climate crisis, how is the progress on clean water and sanitation for all being affected? And what is The Netherlands doing to keep the global water sector on track?

This session will discuss:

  • An overview of the Dutch water sector
    and global partnerships
  • The Netherlands’ SDG 6 targets (action plans and progress)
  • How COVID-19 has affected the global Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sector
  • Valuing water as an economic good and human right

Prior to joining the Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP), Vincent worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a Policy Officer at the Multilateral Organisations and Human Rights Department – Social and Economic UN Affairs Division. He was responsible for the Post-2015 sustainable development agenda and the financing for the development process of the United Nations. Vincent has expertise in solving water issues, globally, working together with NWP network private companies, NGO’s, knowledge institutions and governmental organizations collaborate to achieve more impact abroad.
