Workshop Series: Thought Leadership for Impact Makers

4-week hands-on learning programme dedicated to helping ambitious impact makers leverage social media to influence for positive change.

Net Impact Amsterdam and Impact Brand Building have partnered to curate an exclusive workshop series to help sustainability professionals refine their impact message, build their thought leadership, and raise their visibility amongst key stakeholders by leveraging key social media tools.

If there’s one thing we know: It’s that the impact professionals in our community are deeply dedicated to their missions.

However, many of them also shared that they struggle to articulate the rationale and importance for sustainable business choices and to effectively influence non-believers. As an impact community, we often struggle to convince decision-makers, we try to innovate with a scarcity mindset and, at times, we fail to gain credibility as business-critical within our organisations and industries.

To effectively influence others to make the bold choices needed for a sustainable future, we have to be smarter about our communication. The ‘Thought Leadership for Impact Makers’ Workshop Series lays the foundation for sustainability professionals to effectively share their ideas in the digital domain and to leverage social media for greater impact.

Are you an “impact intrapreneur” trying to steer your company from the inside or perhaps an entrepreneur trying to disrupt an outdated business model? To achieve meaningful change — and to create a sustainable economy for future generations — we need more impact-driven professionals to gain influence, rise through the ranks and become decision-makers. That is, to become “thought leaders”. This workshop aims to help sustainability professionals build their thought leadership profile and establish themselves as experts in the emerging impact and sustainable business ecosystems.

‘Thought Leadership for Impact Makers’ will also connect you with other local sustainability professionals by facilitating active engagement amongst the small workshop cohort (max. 20 people). The workshop series will facilitate personal connection, collaboration, and knowledge sharing among the group.

Session 1: Tuesday 4 May

Introduction to personal leadership styles

Clarifying your personal purpose, defining your problem statement, and building the context to effectively communicate this to different audiences.

Session 2: Tuesday 11 May

Establishing a thought leadership niche

How to structure your storytelling and personal positioning through the use of a strategic narrative.

Session 3: Tuesday 18 May

Creating a strategy

How to create content consistently and with a central thread that aligns with your area of expertise.

Session 4: Tuesday 1 June

Spreading the message

Leveraging LinkedIn and other key social media platforms to ensure your message is reached by the correct audience. Ideas are only gain momentum when they’re shared!

Who is this course for?

This course is for professionals who want to use their career as a force for good and to leverage their platform to influence others for greater impact. In this course, we will cover the basics of social media, content marketing, and public relations so that participants can walk away with a greater understanding of these mediums and how they can use them to increase their influence and authority within their organisation.

What will you walk away with?

Many impact professionals are weary of communicating and would prefer to do the work and let the impact be the reward. In a perfect world, this would be enough. But in today’s interconnected and digital society, your personal visibility significantly impacts your ability to challenge the status quo. In this course, you’ll not only be empowered with the tools to build your personal brand, but also with the confidence that your personal mission, perspective of the future, and your story are uniquely valuable to the greater impact conversation.

What if you can’t join all four sessions?

We strongly advise that you join all four sessions because, more than anything, the confidence that comes with community is intrinsically valuable. That being said, if you can’t make one or more of the sessions, we’ll send a video recording around after it’s finished.

Is there homework?

Like with every learning process, the more effort you put in directly equates to what you’ll get back. Each week, we’ll assign one piece of homework and one reading that will put what you’ve learned that week into practice. Is it mandatory? No. Should you do it? Yep!

Do I get a discount as a Net Impact Amsterdam member?

Yes. The price for this course is €139 but Net Impact Amsterdam members get a €40 discount on that price, bringing it to roughly €25 a session.

Can I get a refund if I don’t like the course?

Of course! We’ll do our best to make sure that you get value from this course, but in the case you don’t enjoy it, we’ll facilitate a refund, no worries.

Member gatherings in the age of COVID

To continue networking events while social distancing, we introduced the ‘Impact From Home’ virtual interview series.
