Sustainability Tour of De Ceuvel
19 July 2022 @ 17:30 - 18:30 CEST

Whether you are an architect, engineer, student, or just someone with a general interest in sustainability, this is for you.
De Ceuvel is a community-built urban incubator where sustainability and the circular economy are central. It is an urban experiment in urban renewal, a creative and cultural breeding ground, a circular test lab, and a place to relax and be inspired. There is a smart grid of solar panels where power can be exchanged using blockchain technology, an aquaponics greenhouse, 16 boats on dry land converted into creative workspaces, and a cozy café-restaurant that invariably has been named ‘the most sustainable restaurant in Europe’. The heavily polluted ground on which everything is built is meanwhile being cleaned by means of a special mix of purifying plants that absorb the heavy metals and oils from the old shipyard.
This is sure to be an intriguing tour that tests the limits of what sustainable solutions we think are possible. Drinks and snacks are not included, but most of us will plan to stay around to enjoy a refreshment together after the tour.
Member gatherings in the age of COVID
To continue networking events while social distancing, we introduced the ‘Impact From Home’ virtual interview series. Every other Friday at noon, we invite different local impact thought leaders for a guided conversation with small groups of our members. Watch our favorites sessions from the year here
