‘Impact From Home’ Episode #9 is hosted by Andres van der Linden, Net Impact Member and ESG Analyst at Triple Jump (now Responsible Investment Advisor at PGGM). He interviews Toni Laitila, COO at The Upright Project. The Upright Project is a technology company based in Helsinki. Its mission is to create incentives for companies to optimize their ‘net impact’. Upright is building a new type of quantification model for assessing the net impact of companies, with the aim of looking both at the negative as well as the positive impacts at the same time and enabling smarter decision-making for institutional investors, consumers, employees and companies themselves. Upright’s model utilizes scientific papers and machine learning to summarize how companies impact the environment, the health of people, the society at large – including the economy – and the creation and distribution of knowledge.
Is IMM the new ESG?
Impact measurement and management (IMM) is the practice of identifying and assessing the effects that one’s business actions on people and the planet, and taking action to mitigate negative and maximize the positive impact in alignment with one’s predefined goals.
